Who We Are

“Now about the collection for God’s people…”

I am always a little bit astonished that, without phones, radios, BBC, NBC or ABC news outlets, television, computers, Facebook--well, you get the idea--the church in Paul’s day knew and cared about the famine and destitution of the saints in Jerusalem. 1 Corinthians 16:1 goes on to say, “…On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I (Paul) come no collections will be made.” He goes on to send approved individuals with the collection to the needy in Jerusalem.

Today our persecuted brothers and sisters are also greatly in need, and we are without excuse in knowing their plight. Yes, God could “raise up stones” to meet their needs. He owns the

cattle on the hills, after all. But He is more concerned with our hearts. Are we willing to stand with our brothers and sisters in their time of need? Are we willing to sacrifice a little in order to make a tremendous difference in their lives? Or will we look the other way, pretending they do not exist?

God promises to “Prepare a table for them in the presence of their enemies.” But quite possibly He is waiting for, even expecting, us to obey His word in caring for the poor and needy.

Quaintmess aims to meet spiritual, emotional, physical and/or economic needs within these communities, depending on their individual needs.
